TWYFORD SKYLIGHT (IMP) 1970 -1994

Sire: Coed Coch Pedestr Dam: Rhyd-y-Felin Seren Wyb by Tan-y-Bwlch Berwyn

Twyford Skylight was one of only three Section B stallions recorded in volume 1 of the AWSB. He was beautifully bred, with five crosses to Tan-y-Bwlch Berwyn. His dam, the diminutive Rhyd-y-Felin Seren Wyb was half sister to famous coed Coch Siaradus, and also produced the influential stallion Rhyd-y-Felin Selwyn.

Skylight was purchased for Fairway Stud by the late Mrs Norma boock. Unfortunately he lost an eye as a 2 year old, so had a very limited show career. (Photo above was taken at the 2nd Victorian All Welsh Show, 1978, with then owner Mr Peter Barry.) Fairway used him over some larger Section A mares and their Section B foundation Stock, producing some lovely ponies including Fairway Skyline who twice won the Section B colt class at Royal Melbourne Show and stood at stud at Mithril for many years. The late Mrs Faye Smith used him at Cefil Bach Stud for a season; he then went to Mr Peter Barry's Mirinda Stud before being purchased by Ian and Chris Milvain in 1978. He spent twelve happy years at Mithril and was a great favourite, running with his mares in the season and baby-sitting the weanling colts in winter.

A lovely pony, it could be truly said of him that he had beauty without vanity, pride without arrogance and strength without malice.
