Joshua Tree Forrest

The Joshua Tree forrest is 1 hour from the west rim of the Gand Canyon. The Joshua trees are believed to live for up to 1000 years and can grow up to 50 feet. Smaller knee high trees are up to 400 years old. Mormon pioneers first named them in the nineteenth century, which thought that the up-turned branches resembled the arms of the prophet Joshua, pointing the way to the promised land. They're found mainly in the Mojave reserve and in parts of Nevada, south Utah and northwest Arizona. Native Indians used to stand amongst the Joshua trees on top of mountains and hills to hide from cowboys. It's believed they live for so long because they are of no use to man and are not a favoured food for any wild animals.WOW!
