USCGC Spencer (WMEC-905)

The USCGC Spencer is a 270' Famous Class Medium Endurance Cutter. All the ships of this class are named after former Coast Guard cutters. The primary missions are law enforcement and search & rescue. These cutters carry out medium range patrols and are usually under way from 60-90 days. The Spencer was commissioned in June of 1986, has a crew of 100 and a maximum speed of approximately 18 knots. The cutter is currently home ported in Boston, MA and was the cutter that I served aboard. The ship is depicted on the patch with an old-time ships wheel.
