USCGC Bramble (WLB-392)

The USCGC Bramble is a Balsam class buoy tender with light ice breaking capabilites and was commissioned in 1944. The ship has a 20 ton crane and is primarily used in coastal waters for AtoN operations. The cutter is 180 feet in length, has a top speed of 13 knots, and a crew of 48. Currently home ported in Port Huron in the Great Lakes, the Bramble is scheduled to be decommissioned in 2004. The patch shows the cutter with arms and angry looking teeth, breaking its way through ice.
