The CGC Biscayne Bay was commissioned in 1979 as the 4th of a new class of ocean tugs. There are 9 ships in this class, with the 10th (Curtis Bay) being cancelled. These ships also perform AtoN work and may be mated with a work barge. These cutters were designed to replace the 110' WYTM class tugs and can break up to 20 feet of ice. The Biscayne Bay is 140' long, has a crew of 17, and a top speed of 14.7 knots. Home port is St. Ignance, Michigan. The patch shows the cutter and is an early design. The 2nd patch is a newer design and has a detailed image of the cutter.
