Ornifolks scour Scotland for Capercaille, other goodies Gorse is gorse, of course! Six Ornifolks members opted to arrive in London a week early to accept Chris Bradshaw’s gracious invitation to be shown the avian specialties of Britain. The second day out, we were rewarded with three life species of grouse all on the same day! But the Capercaille proved to be more challenging. Besides Capercaille, Black Grouse, Red Grouse and Rock Ptarmigan, other specialties included Dipper, Eurasian Woodcock, Eurasian Dotterel, Ring Ouzel, “Scottish” Crossbill, Dartford Warbler (Surrey), European Golden Plovers, Razorbill, Atlantic Puffin, Pied Flycatcher, Grasshopper Warbler and European Nightjar. Chris's trip report is available in either hardcopy from Mike Flieg or as PDF from me by writing greenowl@vicec.org
