Sri Lanka Graduation Ceremony

The BCS Sri Lanka Section held its second Graduation Ceremony following last year's prestige event. This year 700 successful candidates and other guests attended.

Geoff McMullen the New BCS President was Chief Guest, also in attendance was Mr Cliff Lineker, BCS Manager who has retained the relationship within Sri Lanka actively promoting the BCS on his regular visits.

Sri Lanka provided the Top Candidate worldwide for the Certificate Level of the BCS Professional Exams.

The event was featured in a special supplement in the Sri Lanka Daily News, advertising was sponsored by Course Providers for the BCS Exams. Geoff McMullen said in the Daily News supplement:

'It is a great honour to be participating in the graduation ceremony. Sri Lanka has produced some of the finest BCS candidates worldwide, showing not only dedication to IS, but also a determination to ensure standards of education are maintained at the very highest levels.'

In addition, Geoff McMullen, BCS Section Chairman, Bandu Ranasinghe and Cliff Lineker took part in a 30-minute national television discussion programme on the BCS and IT issues.

7 BCS Members were awarded Professional Membership at the event and were presented their certificates. We granted 6 of these Members Chartered Engineering status which is recognised worldwide within the industry.

The BCS would like to thank the BCS Section/secretariat and the BCS Regional Officer for their efforts and hard work in co-ordinating the Graduation Ceremony and to congratulate the candidates on their achievements.
