Lyle is about average height, slim build, with muscles that wouldn't make anyone green with envy. Since the existence of the Crescent was revealed, he has switched his cross pendant for one with a concealed dagger. His pupils must be protected. He tends to wear the black robes that a priest might; technically he has no right to do so but he feels they add to the impression he makes on his pupils. His eyes are brown, his hair a nondescript light brown.

Lyle's not much of a talker outside of the class room; with his own age group, he tends to stumble over words and stutter, though this may improve with time. He is devoutly religious, but envious of his elder brothers Ronald and Warren, and in love with one of the few women still unmarried from his age group, Lilith Petersen.

Little can be said of Lyle's history that is out of the ordinary; third son in a family of seven, he wouldn't inherit the estate and didn't have the strength to set up much work for himself. So he became a teacher, there being a shortage in the town at the time after he found he had a knack with English. Having been brought up as a devout Catholic, Lyle had no great problems when also asked to teach religion. As he was the class swot at school, he was often picked on by the other children, but, as often happens, he's developed an easy enough relationship with his peers since.
