GOLDEN EAGLE AWARD

The Cascade Geographic Society acknowledges the sincere contributions of people to their work. So the organization decided to establish the "Golden Eagle Award" to be given to those individuals who have unselfishly given to the Society.

All recipients of the "Golden Eagle Award" have their name engraved on a special plaque highlighting their acknowledging their contribution to the organization that is placed at the Cascade Geographic Society's "Stage Stop Road Interpretative Center". This facility is located at 24525 East Welches Road in the Village of Rhododendron on Mount Hood's western slope.

Each recipient of the "Golden Eagle Award" receives a very special medal. This award has the head of a Golden Eagle on the front, with the back inscribed with the name of the award and the individual, and, finally, this is adorned with maroon ribbon that allows the person to hang it in a special place or even wear it around their neck if they chose.

To be even considered eligible for the "Golden Eagle Award", the recipients must meet twenty-five individual conditions. These requirements are the following:

1 ~ To be eligible for the "Golden Eagle Award", the individual must believe in the mission of the Cascade Geographic Society, which is: "To preserve the cultural, historical, and natural heritage resources of the Cascade Mountain Range and all of the lands and waters that it influences..."

2 ~ The individual must be a member of the "Friends of Cascade Geographic Society" or be a volunteer in some capacity. 

3 ~ The individual must have participated with the Cascade Geographic Society over a consecutive two-year period.

4 ~ The individual must have truly contributed to the Cascade Geographic Society and did not receive any pay or other compensation for their donation or service. [NOTE: This condition does not restrict the contributor from receiving a tax-deductible receipt from the organization.]

5 ~ The contribution of the individual to Cascade Geographic Society must be done in the total spirit of volunteerism.

6 ~ The contribution of the individual must directly benefit the Cascade Geographic Society.

7 ~ The individual recipient must sincerely believe in the preservation of heritage resources.

8 ~ The contribution of the individual must have assisted the Cascade Geographic Society in preserving heritage resources for future generations.

9 ~ The contribution of the individual to the Cascade Geographic Society must have been done with a positive attitude and in the spirit of cooperation.

10 ~ The contribution of the individual to the Cascade Geographic Society must have been done without any personal gain to themselves, members of their family, organization, or place of employment.

11 ~ The contribution of the individual must have assisted the Cascade Geographic Society in furthering their work in preserving, educating, and promoting heritage resources.

12 ~ The individual must have maintained a humble attitude in their contribution to the Cascade Geographic Society.

13 ~ The individual must have demonstrated integrity while working with the Cascade Geographic Society.

14 ~ The individual's contribution to the Cascade Geographic Society, in some fashion, must have assisted in educating others.

15 ~ The individual's contribution to the Cascade Geographic Society must have been done in an atmosphere that is both professional and friendly.

16 ~ The contribution of the recipient must have been done in a manner that did not violate any laws or any individual rights.

17 ~ The contribution of the individual to the Cascade Geographic Society was made not for the purpose of gaining recognition or winning an award.

18 ~ The contribution of the individual must lessen the burden in assisting the Cascade Geographic Society in meeting the conditions of their mission statement.

19 ~ The contribution of the individual must assist the Cascade Geographic Society in establishing opportunities for people to participate in the preservation, education, and promotion of heritage resources.

20 ~ The contribution of the individual must assist the Cascade Geographic Society in "building heritage bridges" that link cultural, historical, and natural resources.

21 ~ The contribution of the individual must assist the Cascade Geographic Society in furthering their work in preserving heritage resources.

22 ~ The contribution to the Cascade Geographic Society must be tangible.

23 ~ The contribution to the Cascade Geographic Society must be able to be verified.

24 ~ The recipient of Cascade Geographic Society's "Golden Eagle Award" must have the dignity and responsibility of holding such a prestigious award, and in the future will plan to continue working on behalf of preserving heritage resources.

25 ~ Cascade Geographic Society's "Golden Eagle Award" is a lifetime award and, therefore, the individual recipient can only receive it once.
