LIEUTENANT COMMANDER
JON R. FAHS, JR, USN
Lieutenant Commander Fahs was born in St. Petersburg, Florida and was raised in Tallahassee, Florida. He graduated from Duke University in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and Material Science. Prior to Nuclear Power Training, he instructed Physics and Chemistry at the Enlisted Pre-nuclear Power School. Upon completion of Nuclear Power Training, he reported to the BATFISH (681) where he served as Electrical Officer, Chemistry/Radiological Assistant, Damage Control Assistant, Assistant Weapons Officer and Assistant Engineer. He also completed a Mediterranean Deployment on NARWHAL (671).
Following completion of the Submarine Officer Advanced Course, he served as Engineer Officer onboard the ALABAMA (731) (GOLD), completing six strategic deterrent patrols.
From May 1997 to March 1999, Lieutenant Commander Fahs served as the Submarine Squadron 17 Engineer. He relieved as Executive Officer of KEY WEST (722) in July 1999.
Lieutenant Commander Fahs holds a Master’s Degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder in Mechanical Engineering, a Professional Engineers License, and an Instrument Rated Commercial Pilots License. His personal awards include the Navy Commendation Medal (two) and the Navy Achievement Medal (three).
He is married to Danielle Miercort of Reno, Nevada. Together they have three sons, Tyler, Lowell and Cameron.
