Dufus...

...Meets Tom

Dufus

Dufus at last got his chance at being the hero of an adventure (in other words, couldn't persuade Chalky & Shirt to accompany him).

Tom Baker (aka GOD by Dufus) was signing his "horror" children's book "The Boy who Kicked Pigs" at the What Shop, and Dufus was keen to take this opportunity to meet his hero. Dufus arrived about 3 1/2 hours early, just as the shop was opening, to the shop staff's surprise. In fact, they felt so sorry for our corpulent chum that they provided him with a chair to sit on.

For the next two hours, Dufus sat alone in the middle of East Ham high street, whilst passers-by mistook him for a piece of modern art. Finally, about twenty other worshippers turned up, and formed a queue behind his forlorn figure.

At last GOD arrived, sweeping in, beaming at the seated Dufus. And the Almighty spoke. "Hello !", he said to the buddha-like figure looking up at him reverently. His heart beating fast, Dufus mumbled back "Hello".

The queue began moving and Dufus was once more in the presence of the "Great One", where he got a few items signed. Rejoining the queue, a few minutes later, he was back in front of THE Doctor. This time, however, he managed to draw up the courage to ask for a photo with the great man. Tom duly obliged, and Dufus returned home, ready to bore Chalky & Shirt rigid with his tales of his epiphany.

However, he did manage to convince Shirt to go to a later signing. (see Shirt....Meets Tom Too)
