Chalky, Dufus and Shirt…

…meet Bernice and Sue!

"The time has come", the three friends said, "to talk of many things.

"Of audio plays, and Susan's days, and Bernice in the skin!"

"I'll meet you there," Shirt had said.

"Fair enough," replied Chalky and Dufus.

Chalky and Dufus had been standing at Seventh Galaxy for quite a while before anything of any note happened.

Eventually Carole Ann Ford, Lisa Bowerman, the CD audio play - Just War and Shirt did turn up at the agreed rendezvous. The time waiting had been spent, on Chalky's part, convincing Dufus that he did not need to spend £18 on old MDWs just 'to make his collection nearly complete'.

The queue began to move.

Mr. Robin Pritchard - confidante of the stars - was behind the cash till.

"I should have got you to sign the Mindwarp Trilogy," joked Dufus. Everyone, including Mr. Pritchard, was too polite to point out Dufus's mistake (that would be MindGAME Trilogy!). I mean, one Mindwarp was bad enough, let alone a trilogy.

"Hello, lovely Lisa," said Chalky.

"Hello strange fan I'll probably never recognise," said Lisa, nicely.

"Into photography now, I see."

"Have been for a long time."

"I saw your photos in MDW."

"Oh yes, those. I was out there and Gary press-ganged me into doing them."

"Could you sign this copy of Love and War?"

"Oooh, yes. That's me on the cover!"

"And this copy of Happy Endings. The one where you get married."

"Oh yes. We might be making an audio version of this."

"Cool!"

"Oh and here’s the one where you fight the vampires."

"Now that would be interesting to do on audio."

"Hello Miss Ford," said Chalky.

"Could you sign all these things?"

"Mmmm."

Chalky produces the artwork he had bought in the shop. Sudden change of atmosphere. Carole looks at the picture.

"Do you like this?"

Aaaaargh! What do I say?

"It's alright……It's better than some I've seen."

"Right answer," mutters her husband beside me.

"But not as good as the real thing!" says Chalky in a flash of inspiration.

"Hahahahaha!" laughs Lisa.

"Very true!" says Carole.

"Send him to Serbia, he's a diplomat," says her husband.

"Competing in the flattery awards, is Chalky NorNorWest," says Shirt.

And so, with a few photos and a couple of scribbles, it is that Chalky, Dufus and Shirt wend their happy way back to the train station with memories of just how very lovely Lisa Bowerman really is. Oh and Carole's quite nice too.
