Chalky, Shirt, Lupine & Tigger…

…Return to Kendal

The final episode of Doctor Who, Series 2 (or Series 28, or Season 28, or New Series 2 or…) was fast approaching.  The penultimate episode, “Army of Ghosts”, had found Chalky and Tigger slipping quietly away from Punky’s (his brother) wedding reception to watch the Daleks appear out of a the Void Sphere in an ending which must have caused the pair of them to be heard right across the busy metropolis of Manchester.  Punky had married Rose, a not-we who had become a huge fan of the new series, much to the chagrin of Punky who found that Rose was constantly texting and phoning her new brother-in-law to discuss the latest episode.

The climax of the series, “Doomsday”, promised to be a spectacular battle between Daleks and Cybermen and the gang planned to have an end of series party much like their first episode shenanigans for New Earth.

As it was, Enigma and Scooby were unavailable and it soon transpired that Lupine was going to have to work until at least 6.30 (with the episode due to broadcast at 7.00pm).

However…Lupine was currently working at the BBC Outside Broadcast warehouse in Kendal Avenue, Acton.  He suggested to the others that instead of him missing the final episode that Chalky, Shirt and Tigger (Dufus was finding it very difficult to make it down south at this time due to fighting a serious illness) should come up to Kendal Avenue and watch the episode with him, on the big screen, at the BBC!

It didn’t take them very long to agree!

Driving up to Acton was less problematic than they had expected and they arrived at Kendal (after a litte tenseness in the car when Chalky didn’t trust Tigger’s directions) with plenty of time to spare.

Attempting to find the right entrance was a little more difficult but Chalky rang Lupine to let them know they had arrived.  He said he’d come down and meet them and as they wandered towards what looked like the main gate, a security guard noticed them loitering.  After explaining that they were meeting Lupine, the nice guard got them to sign in and gave them special BBC passes.  Chalky, by this point was getting very excited about being at the BBC and having a special pass.

Lupine appeared and led them into the warehouse where he attempted to get together the equipment he would need to set up the episode on the big screen.

Chalky and Shirt wandered around gawping at everything BBC, whilst Tigger attempted to retain some composure in spite of her husband’s childish glee.

Lupine led the trio through an area where filming of some sport programme was taking place, instructing them to stay silent and then showed them his personal workspace.  Resisting the temptation to press buttons they then helped Lupine gather up the rather unwieldy equipment, take it up in the lift and begin to put it together in the staff canteen.

Time was ticking away and Lupine was struggling to get the equipment to work.

Eventually as 7.00pm hit, it was decided that it wasn’t going to work and that they’d have to watch it on the smaller canteen TV in the corner.  Switching on they found the episode to have started already and settled down for 45 minutes of fun and excitement…

…and then Catherine Tate appeared!

Gobsmacked by the final revelation of the episode, the gang proceeded to return the useless equipment to its relevant places.  Outside, Lupine pointed out to Chalky the locations which had been used at Kendal Avenue for filming sections of “The Faceless Ones” including the warehouse that Polly is dragged into by a Chameleon duplicate.  Shirt pretended he had a clue what they were talking about and Tigger just smiled patiently.

They then headed off back to Lupine’s flat for sustenance.

Lupine cooked a lovely pasta meal whilst the trio watched numerous episodes of Family Guy.

Eventually, Chalky, Shirt and Tigger decided it was time to go home and thanked Lupine for allowing them to visit the BBC and feeding them delicious wittles.
