Gil started playing at the age of seven in El Paso Texas.  As he grew up playing guitar in the church choir he was approached by many Bands.  With a blues/rock back- ground his style began to peak at an early age.  In and out of rock band Gil struggled to find the right band with the "right sound".  One new band in the early 80's caught the attention of this star craved guitarist.   With dueling guitars,  Gil Rez  always had the audience attention with his constant guitar battles.  Unfortunately,  the band was short lived do to solo careers.  Not willing to convert,  the band became extinct.

As time went on Gil was challenged to expand his horizons by joining a tejano band.  Knowing that his free style of playing and singing would take a turn to the down side.   He pursued.  ASI Band became well known around El Paso.  Gil was able to write and arrange most of their music.  As a song writer Gil was acknowledged and the band was nominated for an award in the Coors Lite Hispanic Music Awards.  The Band was headed the right direction, but the members did not want to pursue a full time career with this band.  With the release of one of the lead singers,  Gil decided to venture along with the sax player starting a new group called RIO the WILDSIDE BOIZ.

RIO became an over night success and it was phenomenal.  RIO played at the Ysleta Festival in 1992 for over 60,000 people.  When a demo and Bio landed on the desk of Jose Rosario (Capitol EMI),  it was clear and was recognized that this band carried their own tune with excitement and charisma.  Jose Rosario along with Manolo Gonzales signed the group in 1993.  There was a conflict with the name RIO.  Since Emilio Navaira's group RIO was signed with the same company, EMI changed the name to Tormenta (Storm).  Just like a storm Tormenta again reached unbelievable heights.

With the release of their first CD "Llorando gotitas de sangre", Gil once again reached a personal high.  In collaboration with the group Gil wrote the bands only number one hit "Muchachita".  "Playing tejano is cool"  Gil states, but there was still one true calling.  When the second release "Nos Vemos En El Cielo" was on record shelves Gils interests in the band was deteriorating.  Searching for his music became an obsession.  In 1995 Gil left the group to pursue a solo career.

Taking a leave of absence for four years, Gil has return with a new look and new arsonal.  SEDA has performed for several Festivals and clubs leaving a foot print.  Definitely,  a band to keep an eye on in the year 2000
