Gwyn Read, the father of James Read was a resident of Virginia during Colonial times, he married Dorothy Clack, the daughter of the Reverend Mr. Clack and his wife Jane. Dorothy Clack Read was born the 24th day of August 1714. Gwyn Read died June of 1762, his wife Dorothy died in May of 1797.
