The Malaysian Society of Pharmacology and Physiology was registered in 1974. The society is an affiliate of the Federation of the Asian and Oceanian Physiological Societies (FAOPS) and International Union of Pharmacology (IUPHAR)

The Objectives of the Society is to:

  • promote scientific communication between members of the society through regular meetings and publications
  • advance the science and ethics of Physiology and Pharmacology
  • promote integration with other professionals
  • be an avenue for public awareness on the use and misuse of drugs
  • Membership:

    Members of the society are mostly academician and students from local universities including from Singapore. The others are from research instituition and drug companies. The medical faculties from the three major Universities that is; University of Malaya (UM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) (Penang and Kubang Kerian) will take turn to hold office for 2 years.

    Membership Requirements:

  • Candidates with University Degree in Pharmacology, Pharmacy or Physiology
  • Candidates with other degrees engaged in teaching and/or research work related to areas in Pharmacology/Physiology at university or research institute
  • Professionally qualified persons in the medical, dental or veterinary or pharmaceutical sciences who are actively involved in the fields of pharmacology and/or physiology 
  • Students who are reading pharmacology and/or pharmacology and/or physiology or related subjects
  • Candidates who demonstrated an interest in pharmacology and/or physiology
