Toronto Special Olympics Day

Over 200 athletes and volunteers came to Metro Hall in downtown Toronto to celebrate Toronto Special Olympics Day on September 18, 2005. This event takes place every fall to recognize the achievements of both athletes and volunteers who make the TSO a wonderful success.

For the athletes, TSO Day is an opportunity to get together and meet friends outside of the sports venues. They also gathered to recognize those athletes who were honoured for upholding the principles of the Special Olympics Oath "Let me win; but if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt." Volunteers were also recognized with awards given out to those who had served with the Special Olympics for 5, 10, 15 and 20 years.

Special thanks go out to Miss Universe Natalie Glebova. The Toronto native took the time to spek to the athletes as well as sign autographs and pose for pictures.

Warm thanks go out to the organizers of TSO Day, especially Gemma Cutler Thanks also to the sponsors who donated prizes as well as to the staff at Metro Hall. We'll see you again next year!
