The RyuBuKan Dojo was established by Pedro J. Bernardy and modeled after the formats of instructors throughout the world who find it more appealing and beneficial to teach from their respective homes.  Students receive instruction in Okinawan Karate, Small Circle Jujitsu, and Okinawan ancient weapons arts known collectively as Kobudo.

KARATE

Our karate training is based on a curriculum of Shuri-Te, Naha-Te, and Tomari-Te kata.  Styles practiced from the Okinawan Shorin-Ryu system are Kobayashi, Matsumura Seito, and Matsubayashi. Additional techniques that comprise our empty hand training come from the Goju-Ryu system.

KOBUDO

There are two systems of traditional martial arts weaponry taught; the Matayoshi system from Sensei Kimo Wall and his teacher, Matayoshi Shinpo Sensei, and Yamanni-Ryu style as instructed by Sensei Jim Silvan and his teacher, Oshiro Toshihiro Sensei.

JUJITSU

The basics of Small Circle Jujitsu are taught in conjunction with karate and kobudo technique.  These skills are derived from lessons of Sensei Jim Silvan and his teacher, Professor Wally Jay, founder of Small Circle Jujitsu.
