KUALA LUMPUR -- Umno will map out strategies to counter baseless allegations levelled by certain groups against the party and its leaders, Prime Minister and Umno President Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad has said.
Dr M need no strategies. Arrest them under ISA use the stupid so called "turning over" or just pay more to those willing to say that their back has been penetrated.

It would seek the cooperation of the local media to counter the accusations, the Prime Minister told a news conference held late on Friday night after chairing the party's Supreme Council meeting, which lasted more than three hours.

Gosh..full of lies, you have been using the media all this while, everyone knows, why this statement. This only proves that either u are ignorant or  lier. Stop it Dr M , nobody wants u anymore.

Asked whether Umno would be accused of using the local media, Dr Mahathir said: "If the press wants to allow it to be used by those opposed to Umno, give it a little balance so that it can also be used by Umno."

Go away, lying thru your teeth, we really have a lot of minister that suck up to this guy. Common every one who has the brains knows that u have been using the media.Dont create excuses.

He said the foreign media had made their stand to be anti-Umno and the government could not do anything about it.

"At least, the local media must be balanced in their reports," he said.By telling lies......

Dr Mahathir was also asked about the fate of party members including former Umno Youth chief Datuk Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who were asked to explain their actions and say why they should not be expelled for their alleged involvement in activities detrimental to the party and government.

While they had not been sacked, Dr Mahathir said the Supreme Council decided that the activities of those party members be monitored for a specific period.

"The decision was made not because we are dissatisfied with their replies.

"Some of them have stated in their replies that they were still loyal to Umno and we take that into account," he told the news conference.

Twenty-five Umno members, who have replied to show-cause letters, would be interviewed by the party's Management and Disciplinary Committee.

Party secretary-general Datuk Seri Sabbaruddin Chik said on Wednesday that eight of 33 people had not replied to the show-cause letters or had appealed as they claimed to have not received the letters from party headquarters.

Dr Mahathir, who is also the First Finance Minister, said the Supreme Council on Friday also discussed the country's economic problems and the 1999 Budget tabled by him in Parliament on Oct 23. Bernama
