Eagle Page

          Harley Davidson has used The Eagle as its symbol since 1903.
          Symbolizing the strength and freedom of Harley Davidson Motorcycles, and motorcyclists in general have adopted the Eagle as a symbol of the freedom associated with RIDIN'.

          An especially "great" ride for Ross & I,
          is when we witness an Eagle soaring high in the sky above us
          as we cruise on down the highway,
          and as the song playing "Fly Like An Eagle" by Steve Miller
          suggests, we feel like we're free.

          For me, there is something definitely spiritual in the experience.
          I do most of my praying on the back of the bike
          because that is when I feel most at peace and most grateful.
          During those times of prayer it never fails that I see Eagles,
          and as confirmation from my God, that I'm at the right time
          and place in my life and no matter what is going on...
          IT's ALL JUST AS IT's SUPPOSED TO BE.

The Vanishing Eagle
~~~~~~~~~
Have you ever seen such beauty,
Like the great Eagles in flight.
Drifting through the blue sky,
It's truly a wonderful sight.
To see them soar in mid-air,
Their talon claws outstretched.
Swooping on their prey with care,
The war cry and the catch.
Magical eyes scope out their food,
To feed the crying young,
From day to day, they fight to survive,
In the world of man and gun.
Where their life is one big struggle,
One day they'll all be gone.
The law is to protect the Bald Eagles,
They're outlaws on the run.
From poachers and money, hungry people,
Selling feathers and claws for cash.
It's a shame the beautiful Eagles,
Are dying and might not last.
LIKE THE EAGLE
~~~~~~~~~~

A noble bronze sculpture
surveying the terra,
Having retreated to lofty craigs
for many an era,
like the eagle.

Knowing eyes view magpies
fightin' for lore
Leaving spoils for vultures to
ravage more,
defying the eagle.

Soaring higher still retreating,
seeking a domain,
Swoopin' o'er his land,
strivin' to be known again,
as the eagle.

Comin' with an anguish cry from high
Are those who hearken to his sigh,
like the eagle.

Answering joyfully,
sensing friend in the tone,
Lingering still,
knowin' he's not alone,
like the eagle.

(This poem was written for and inspired by Mesquakie friends)

ODE TO THE EAGLE
~~~~~~~~~~~
Oh Mighty Eagle soaring high up in the sky
With your broad and sweeping wings.
I can see what a strong flier you are,
As you zoom up to your eyrie high in a tree.
With your keen sharp eyes
You spy your prey far below.
Oh Mighty Eagle so powerful and brave
You are the official emblem of the Great United States.
Courageously you stand on
The American Coat of Arms and the President's flag.
Your picture graces some American Coins
And paper money that circulates today.
Oh Mighty Eagle how I envy you your freedom
As you fly high -- high -- high up in the sky.
