The Postal Used of Revenue Stamps of Victorian Great Britain

II have noted through observations on Ebay and other internet stamp auction sites that there has been some confusion about the classification of Inland Revenue Stamps.  In the Stanley Gibbons Queen Victoria Specialized Catalog they list some of Great Britain's revenue stamps.  In the General Notes Section they clearly indicate that the stamps listed in this section are fiscal stamps that were authorized for postage.  However, they do not illustrate any of the stamps " postal used." They show illustrations of mint examples only.   Often the inexperienced seller or dealer has looked at the catalog listings and offered the fiscally used stamps at the catalog values quoted in the Gibbons catalog for the postal used stamps.  I therefore provide below, illustrations of some of  the most common types of revenue stamps in mint, postal used and fiscally used condition.  It is my hope that this will aid  collectors, sellers and dealers in properly assessing the value of this type of material. The same principle below applies to the other revenues listed in the Stanley Gibbons Queen Victoria Specialized Catalog, Volume 1. For further information about the fiscally used stamps and their proper prices I highly recommend the catalogs of J. Barefoot Ltd.
