Lighthouses are not only an integral part of our country's maritime history, they also hold special meaning to myself and others. There is something about lighthouses that has captured my imagination. These wonderful structures take me back to a time when things seemed, at least in retrospect, simpler and more pure. They represent people caring for people, a concept that appears to be slowly disappearing in this fast-paced and often hectic age in which we live. Lighthouses reflect the endless struggle between man and sea, a constant battle critical to the survival and development of our great country. And, of course, lighthouses and their surroundings are often very beautiful.
The first light I visited was the Nauset Beach Light in Eastham, MA., and I have been in love with and inspired by lighthouses ever since. I hope that by viewing my prints, you can gain an appreciation for these wonderful treasures from our nation's maritime past. Even if you are not interested in purchasing a print, please visit some of the links below. And please consider a donation to the U.S. Lighthouse Society or one of the many other organizations dedicated to the preservation and restoration of lighthouses. Many of our nation's lights are endangered and require much restoration work to keep them from crumbling. Help to keep the light burning!
