I Just Want To Be Where You Are. Songwriter : Don Moen

Written : 1987. First Release : 1989 on Hosanna's Bless The Lord album.

Don Moen : Songwriter, worship leader, Executive Vice President and Creative Director of Integrity Music

Don Moen

Describing the writing of "I Want to Be Where You Are," Moen tells of sitting alone at a piano in an empty church. He had been trying to compose an opening piece for the musical that would eventually become the award-winning God With Us.

Moen's "I Want to Be Where You Are," with its smart, ascending chord pattern, youthful melody and singable lyrics has since become a favorite among congregations everywhere. Tender and memorable, the song makes a beautiful first impression, then ages gracefully.

This ballad delivers the timeless cry of a worshiping heart; it is a prayer to remain in the presence of God for both time and eternity.

I just want to be where You are,
Dwelling daily in Your presence.
I don't want to worship from afar.
Draw me near to where You are.

And his song continues to speak clearly today, not unlike King David's powerful prayer in Psalm 27:4 (NIV), a prayer that impressed Don Moen when received Christ as his Saviour at the tender age of twelve:

"One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek:
That I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life,
To gaze upon the beauty of the LORD
And to seek him in his temple."

These Things Are True Of You.

Song Writer : Tommy Walker.

Tommy Walker : Songwriter, Worship leader of CA Worship Band. "These Things Are True Of You" has been selected to be performed at Promise Keepers rallies across North America during 1998.

"It's a simple fact that man was created to worship.
Whether he worships the One True God or himself,
We know one thing for sure, he will bow his kneee to something.
Knowing that, I want to show people what they were truly created for
And that is to give themselves in worship to their Creator."

Unshakeable, immoveable, faithful and true.
Full of wisdom, strength and beauty, these things are true of You.
And as I turn my face to You, oh Lord, I ask and pray.
By the power of Your love and grace, makes these things true of me too.

Victor's Song Review

I was unable to find a review of this song. I'll try and fill in here...

In essence, if I can describe it for you, this song rises and ebbs like the wind. It coos softly, never raising above mezzoforte.

Exquisitely crafted to ripple gently through your tailbone. Walker electrifies the song with a fine blend of soaring melody and driving harmony. Both female melody and male harmony are tight with each other - creating a rich four-part purr.

Depending on the artistic interpretation, I can see this song nailed to a rivetting tribal beat and still sound perfectly pure.

"These Things Are True of You" speaks of the power and beauty of God, the contrast of God's strength and gentleness stands as a hallmark of this song - whose poetic strength ripples beneath this musical breeze.

"These Things Are True of You" knocks me down again and again with its invocative message and artistic beauty. As a tool of spiritual revival, its in a class of its own....

Victor's Song Review

This song cuts right to the heart with Steve's tugging vocals and lone guitar. The power of this song lies in its clear, incisive lyrics that perfectly embodies the cry of every Christian in their walk with God. Heart's Cry - released 6 years ago, is still as fresh today with its moving timeless message of the right devotional outlook.

Phil. 3:10; Matt. 25:34
Steven Curtis Chapman/Phil Naish

This is my heart's cry
I want to know the one who saved me and gave me life
This is my heart's cry to be so close to Him that all my life becomes
A testimony of my Savior's grace and love
This is my heart's cry

This is my heart's cry
Much more than just a great desire - it's like a fire in me
I hear my heart cry each time I think about the cross where Jesus died
The cross should have been mine but His love broke through time
And heard my heart's cry - he heard my heart's cry
