December
Laura's stepbrother Jason got hitched December 12 at Cannonsburgh Village in Murphreesboro. Amber is a beautiful girl, and we wonder how Jason lucked out!
The holidays are always crazy, but we enjoy visiting with family...
...and friends. Fritz & Cherie & Suzie & Tim were all in town for Christmas from Florida. Plus we visited with the usual local suspects. In addition, Stacey came from Colorado to visit her family in Atlanta, so we drove over to see her and her son Jack. Brent and Missy also drove up from Florida to see her. As a bonus, we stopped in to see friends Greg & Tina who live in Atlanta.

November
TOGA! TOGA! TOGA! The annual Schultz/Roberts Birthday Bash was a Toga Party this year. Chris & Susan took TONS of pictures which are on a disk somewhere. We did have these few stored on the hard drive though.

October
Kellie & Lee have their baby! Jaiden Kennice is born October 21st at 5:00 am. She weighed in at 7 pounds, 6 ounces, and 20 and one half inches long. Congratulations!
On OUR home front, Laura worked furiously on building a retaining wall garden in the front yard. We had mild weather well into fall, and this was the perfect opportunity to do this kind of work - not too hot, not too cold. She did have to work in the rain a few times to get to a good stopping point before Halloween. She cut back and transplanted some of the dianthus that had gotten overgrown in her rock garden and tried out a few new plants. We'll do more work in the spring or summer.

September
Our friends Kellie & Lee are expecting their first baby in late October or early November. Laura attended a Baby Shower at Kellie's parents' house.
Eric and Laura both attended another Baby Shower for Lee & Kellie at Tim & Angela's house.

July
Early in the month, we celebrated Independence Day at our house with a number of our friends.
Later in the month, we went down the street to celebrate Angela's birthday at their house! Once again, the cops shut us down. (What? It's not ok to have a rock n roll band or so playing in your house late at night?!)

June
Early in the month, Laura did a complete update and re-design of the Hospice Family Care website (her volunteer gig). Check it out.

Mid-month, We took our mostly-annual St. Augustine Vacation! Aside from the expected busy schedule of "eat, beach, sleep", we got to visit with friends and family in the area, including Laura's Uncle Fred and his wife Deborah, Laura's old college friend AJ and her husband Mike, Eric's old college friend Brent and his girlfriend Missy, and our friends Suzie (formerly of Huntsville) and Tim!
Laura did manage to get on a co-ed soccer team, although we were not able to form our own team. She missed the first game due to vacation. Unfortunately, about a minute after subbing into the 2nd game, she sprained her ankle - badly, and is unlikely to be able to play the rest of the summer season. However, now that he is no longer working nights, Eric may be allowed to take her place on the team. No consolation to Laura, of course. But Eric is bound to be more coordinated, and certainly has better endurance.

May
We have just recently completed some work on our house and are very pleased with our new darkroom/art room. (Have we mentioned how much we love our contractor? We highly recommend Tim Humlicek. And he's not a bad drummer either). Anyway, Eric processed his first roll of black and white film in the new darkroom and is just a negative carrier away from being able to make prints. How cool is that? Laura is hoping to learn to paint now that she has a little space to make a mess.

Laura also started a new job this month. She has gone from working at a giant company of 90,000 employees to a small woman-owned business. The work should be challenging and the atmosphere much less bureaucratic!

April
On Friday night, April 5th, Eric & Laura drove up to Fall Creek Falls State Park in Tennessee for the weekend. It's a beautiful place, and we really enjoyed the visit. There was a terrible storm that night, and the park lodge (and the towns nearby) all lost power. We were originally told that it would be out for days and that we would have to leave. Fortunately, the power was back by about 12:30. And it was a warm sunny day. We had brought our bikes and rode all over the park.
On Sunday, April 6th, John & Carrie came up with Baylee and Daniel. This would have been our Mom's 63rd birthday. Mom & Dad used to come up to Fall Creek Falls back when they were dating, and Dad had scattered her ashes up there. Sunday was a grey day, and we didn't spend as much time together as we might have liked due to the intermittent rain. But I'm glad we finally went there. John and I both miss her.

Patricia took these pictures of us on Palm Sunday. We clean up right nice!

We spent part of Easter with the Schultz family, and of course had to gather for a picture or two. We also had to get pics of Dad Schultz's famous iris'!

March
A local indoor-style soccer facility started a women's pick-up soccer night, and Laura has started going (and trying to drag all her friends). It's been a slow start.

We are always so happy for spring to come! Some of Laura's tulips even came back. Pictures below are of Laura's garden.

February
On February 1st,Zelda graduated from Basic Obedience. This was her second obedience class (she graduated from Puppy Class last summer). She's pretty good when supervised. If only we could trust her not to eat leather goods!
While Zelda was graduating, Eric went up to Tennessee with a bunch of friends to help Lee demolish his cabin. Unfortunately, Eric was also a victim of the demolition.
February 1st was a crazy day. This is also the day that the space shuttle Columbia broke up on re-entry. On February 3rd, the newspaper sent Eric out on the road with a reporter to cover the story, including visiting communities that were emotionally and financially tied to the success of the shuttle program, and walking with workers and volunteers in the debris fields in Texas. I know many of us in Huntsville are really attached to OUR space program and OUR shuttles, and found this event heart-breaking. In a further twist of irony, Columbia is the space shuttle that Eric & I actually saw launch in July 1999 (Mission STS-93).

THEN (yes, there's more)... while Eric was gone, our dogs got out and ran away. They ran and ran. They crossed the Parkway! Gator wasn't found until the next day. It was yet another day before Zelda was found. (Apparently, obedience school doesn't cover the fact that good dogs stay home.) We were so worried for our babies! And we are so grateful for all the wonderful friends we have who helped Laura put up signs and spent hours looking for them. Thank you!

January
As always, January is not one of our more exciting months. Laura spent most of the month getting her new computer up and running. So far, she doesn't think much of Windows XP, or the fact that the makers of her peripherals no longer support their products and they are not compatible with the new operating system. She did get the flatbed scanner working with a driver from the German website, but it crashed the computer. The webcam works for still shots, but doesn't do some of the things it could do if the manufacturer would update the software to work with XP. (Very disappointing since the webcam couldn't be used with the old computer at all, and now is only partially useable with the new one. Guess that's why it was free.)

Laura's little home office looks like Nerd Central now with two computers in it!
