After several weeks of severe illness with dropsay, R.C. Merry died Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock. He had been in ill health for several months and not until the past few weeks was his illness concidered serious. Mr. Merry was one of our most prominent citizens and was an honorable, upright and Christian gentleman. At the breaking out of the Civil War he inlisted in Co. D., 25th Indiana volunteers, and served his country well during the rebellion. Mr.Merry leaves a companion and four children to bear his loss.

The funeral exercises were conducted at the residence yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock by Rev. Hobson and the G.A.R. Post, of which order he was a faithful member. The remains were laid to rest in the Dale Cemetery. The many friends of the family extend their heartfelt sympathy.
