Ephesians 6:10-20
Step I: Initial Acquaintance
(DH) C. ROUGH TRANSLATION
10 In the future/finally, become strong (pres. pass. impv., 2nd
pl.) in [the] lord and in the strength/power of his strength. 11 Put
on (aor. mid. impv., 2nd pl.) the full armor of [the] God so that you
(pl.) might be able to stand against/in the presence of the tricks of the
devil. 12 Because not is for us the struggle against blood and flesh,
but against the ruling powers, against the authorities, against the
cosmos-rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of [the] evil
in the heavenly worlds/places. 13 For this reason, pick up the full
armor of [the] God, in order that you might be able to stand up [perhaps:
upright?] on the evil day and, having accomplished everything, to stand.
14 Therefore stand, dress (ptc. w/ finite verb - anacoluthon,
usually in a series in impv. sense) around your waist with truth and put
on the breastplate of [the] righteousness, 15 and put on the shoes in
readiness/preparation of the gospel of [the] peace, 16 in everything
take up the shield of [the] faith, with which you will be able to
extinguish all the arrows of the Evil One, the ones that have been
inflamed/are on fire (perf. pass. ptc.); 17 Both the helmet [Gr
- perikefalaia = 3D that which is around one's head) of [the] salvation
take/receive as well as the sword of the spirit, which is [the] speech of
God. (why raema and not logos?) 18 With every prayer and petition
continue to pray in every right moment in spirit, and in this thing keep
being alert in perseverance and petition concerning all the saints 19
as well as on behalf of me, in order that to me might be given a word in
[the] opening of my mouth, with boldness to make known the mystery of the
gospel, 20 on whose behalf I am an ambassador/representative in
imprisonment, in order that in it I might speak boldly just as it is
necessary for me to speak.
