2:17 Gr. "eirenen"-- its second usage is ommitted by the Textus receptus and several late witnesses, perhaps because scribes thought it was redundant. But several reliable early witnesses back its inclusion, and the second "peace' adds punch to the writer's statement.
(JEA) C. ROUGH TRANSLATION
11 On account of which thing [you (pl.)] remember that once you (pl.) [were] the Gentile ones in the flesh, (you) the ones being called "uncut" by the being-called hand-made circumcision in the flesh, 12 because you (pl.) were at that critical hour without Christ, being alienated from the citizenry of Israel and strangers of the covenants of the promise, hope not having and godless ones in the cosmos. 13 But now in Christ Jesus you being the ones once far away have become near in the blood of the Christ.
14 For he himself is our peace, the One having made the both things one thing and the One having loosed the middle-divider of the partition, (i.e.) the hostility, in his flesh, 15 the law of the commandments in decrees, he having abolished in order that the two he might create in him (it?) into one new human creature while making peace 16 and that he might reconcile the both in one body to God through the cross, having killed the hostility in it. 17 And having come he gospelled peace to you the ones (being) far and peace (to you) the ones being near; 18 because through him we have the access - the both in one Spirit - toward the Father.
19 Therefore then no longer are you strangers and sojourners (Gr. "paroikoi") but you are joint-citizens of the saints and householders (Gr. " oikeioi") of God, 20 having been house-built (Gr. "epoikodomethentes") upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, while (gen abs.) Christ Jesus is its cornerstone, 21 in whom all the house-building (Gr. "oikodome") being architecturally fit (t.t. = Gr. "synarmologoumene") grows into the holy temple in the Lord, 22 in whom also you (pl.) are being house-built together (Gr. "synoikodomeisthe") into the place of habitation (Gr. "katoiketerion") of God in the Spirit.
