Luke 10:25-37

v. 25 And then a certain lawyer rose while putting to the test him, saying, "After I do (accomplish, perform, SHOW???) what will I receive (share in, be given) eternal (everlasting) life?" v. 26 And he said to him, "In the Law what was written (recorded)? How (In what way) are you reading?" v. 27 And (then, but) answered one said, "You shall love [the] Lord the God of you from all the heart of you and with all the soul of you and with all the strength of you and with all the mind of you and the neighbor of you as though yourself. v. 28 And he said to him, "Rightly (properly) you answered; keep doing this thing and you shall live." v. 29 And the one wishing to put in right relationship himself said to [the] Jesus, "And who is of me neighbor?" v. 30 Answering [the] Jesus said, "A certain man was coming down from Jerusalem into Jericho and he fell into the hands of robbers, who both after stripping him and after beating wounds they went leaving behind half-dead. v. 31 Just as a coincidence then a certain priest was coming down on that way and after seeing him passed by on the other side of the road. v. 32 And in the same way also a Levite happened upon the place after coming and after seeing he passed by on the other side of the road. v. 33 And (But) a certain Samaritan while traveling came upon him and after seeing he was moved with compassion. v. 34 And after coming towards (approaching) he bound up the wounds of him while pouring on oil and wine, and after setting him upon [the] his own pack animal he led him into an inn and took care of him. v. 35 And upon the next day after taking out he gave two denari to the inn-keeper and he said 'Take care of him, and anything if you should spend in addition I come in the return of me I will repay to you.' v. 36 Who of these of the three neighbor seems to you to be of the one who fell among into the robbers?" 37 And the one said, "The one who showed the mercy in company with him." And said to him Jesus, "Go! And you be showing in the same way!"

"peirazo" = to examine, probe, test by some standard or excellence or proof) him saying, "Teacher, having done what thing shall I inherit life eternal?" (v. 26) And he (lit. the [Jesus] one) said toward him, "In the law what thing has been/is written (or, "why" has it/is it written?)? How ( = in what way interpretively) do you read aloud ("from memory" here?)?" (v. 27) And he (lit. the [nomikos] one) having replied said, "You (sing.) shall love the Lord your (sing.) God out of your whole heart and in your whole soul and in your whole strength and in your whole understanding, and [you shall love] your (sing.) near-one (neighboring one) as yourself!" (v. 28) And he said to him, "You replied correctly (Gr. "orthos" = in an "orthodox" way?); be doing (pres. imp.) this thing and you shall live." (v. 35) And upon the next day having cast out (?) he gave two denarii to the innkeeper and said, "Attend to him, and what thing you should spend in addition (Gr. "prosdapanao") I in the my to come again upon (Gr. "epanerchomai" ) shall repay to you." (v. 36) "Who of these three seems to you to have become near-one of the one having fallen in into the thieves (bandits?)?"
