This swivel clipped to a ring set into the stock of a cavalryman's carbine. It is marked O.B. North & Co. NEW HAVEN-CT. North had contracts for 29,000 of them.

The illustration is a colorized image taken by the Quartermaster Department in 1866. The model is wearing his sling on the wrong side. He is holding a 7-Shot Spencer Carbine.
