TIP OF THE WEEK: "Netiquette" is network etiquette, the do's and don'ts of online communication. Netiquette covers both common courtesy online and the informal "rules of the road" of cyberspace. Click here for the often cited Rules of Netiquette for cyberspace communicating. Basically, it's a Golden Rule thing and probably varies depending on where you are. If you are e-mailing someone you don't know very well or in a business venue, pay strict heed to the rules. If you are chatting one-on-one to your best friend, you can relax a bit knowing they will understand and love you in spite of your faus pax. Different chat rooms or newsgroups have their own set of rules so be sure and read them thoroughly or you may find yourself banned from the room. The Internet is a great equalizer and so far most have played by the rules, making it an enjoyable cyberworld for us all to enjoy. |
