These are some kitchen and household tips I have came across on the internet and thought I would share them with you.



Sprinkling some flour on cooking oil that is accidentally spilled on the floor, absorbs the oil making clean up a snap.

While waiting for a full load in the dishwasher before washing, sprinkle a little baking soda over the dishes or in the bottom of the machine in order to neutralize food odors.

If you spill red wine on a carpet, pour white wine right over it. The white will neutralize the red wine's color. Follow with light soap and water and blot with a thick towel.

A good method of making clean up of a grater easier, is to lightly coat it with salad oil before using.

Vinegar brought to a boil in a new frying pan will prevent foods from sticking.

When scalding milk, first rinse the pan in cold water to prevent sticking.

To keep bacon slices from sticking together; roll the package into a tube shape and secure with rubber bands.

1/2 cup of ground beef weighs approximately 1/4 pound. Useful information for quickly measuring out "quarter pounders" or preparing patties for the freezer that will thaw fast when needed. Pack beef firmly into measuring cup.

To get the ketchup out of the bottle, insert a drinking straw, push it to the bottom of the bottle, and then remove. Enough air will be admitted to start an even flow.

Because microwave ovens cook so fast, microbes can survive on the surface of the food. To counteract this problem, cover the cooking dish with another dish of glass or ceramic, not plastic. The steam that accumulates will heat the surface, thus killing any surviving microscopic critters.

Making noodles is easy by adding an egg to a package of pie crust mix. Mix; roll out, cut, and let dry.

To loosen baked or dried on food in pan, gently boil some water with a little baking soda mixed in. Cool when food is loosened then wipe clean.

Bring old sponges, nylon scrubbers and brushes back to life by soaking them overnight in a solution of 1 quart water to 4 tablespoons baking soda.

Soupy whipped cream can be saved by adding an egg white, chilling, then re-beating.

A cake decorator's secret for getting really flat tops on cakes is to wet a terry cloth towel and wrap it around the outside of the cake pan (secure with safety pin). The moisture from the towel makes the cake cook more evenly.

Make your own "instant" oatmeal by running regular oatmeal in a blender. Blending makes the oatmeal the same as "instant."

Freshening dry and hard lemons is effortless by placing them in a hot oven for a few minutes.

Keep a small plastic bag in your can of vegetable shortening. When it comes time to grease a pan, just slip your hand in the bag, scoop out what you need and spread it on the pan.

To make deviled eggs with no mess put eggs yolks from hard boiled eggs in plastic sandwich bag. Add remaining ingredients, close bag and mix. When finished cut small tip off corner of bag and squeeze into hollowed egg white, then simply throw away the bag. No muss, no fuss

When a bar of toilet soap becomes too thin to use, simply wet it and lay a new bar of soap on top. As it dries, the two bars weld into one, and you will never throw toilet soap away again.

Spray a bit of perfume on the lightbulb in any room to create a lovely light scent in when the light is turned on.

Candles will last a lot longer if placed in the freezer for about 3 hours before using. (Take out before lighting..haha)

For a headache, take a lime, cut it in half and rub it on your forehead. The throbbing will go away.
