Breast Care for Women

Sure; from day one we've been told to do our monthly BSE (Breast Self Examination) to check for lumps and bumps; but seriously - many of us find lumps and bumps and assume that they are nothing other than the normal changes that occur within our breasts due to our monthly cycles or due to age.  So we don't pay any attention to those lumps and bumps unless they cause pain.  We don't pay attention because we don't think that Cancer can happen to us and that we are not high risk because nobody in our family has had breast Cancer.

I had heard something startling the other day....I learned that 90% of the women who get breast cancer do NOT have a genetic link to it.  That means that nobody in their family has had breast Cancer and that they never would have assumed that they would get breast Cancer because they had assumed that they are not high risk!

Additionally; The National Cancer Institute estimates that any woman will have a 1 in 8 chance of developing breast Cancer during her lifetime.  Those kind of statistics do not make me feel very comfortable - how do they make you feel?  To put it into perspective, imagine going to your family reunion - there are 16 women present and 2 of them might get breast Cancer in their lifetime - could you be one of them?

Though I have designed this web site with Endometriosis in mind; the more I research it, the more I learn how one thing is tied into the other and that there are probably a variety of factors involved which are causing the mutation and alteration and disorder of cells in many women - no matter the name of the disease!

I've searched the 'net for some pretty good links for you to research and study, they are as follows:
