Cultivation: Fennel is a tender perennial (hardy to zone 6) which is grown as a annual in colder areas. It prefers average, well-drained soil in full sun, with a pH of 6.5.
Cosmetic Uses: Fennel is cleansing and medicating; use in steam facials to help open pores. It's used commercially in lotions, perfumes, and soaps.
Culinary Uses: Fennel has a softer licorice flavor than anise. Use the leaves and seeds of sweet fennel; the stalk and bulb of Florence fennel. Use the leaves in salads; eat the stalks like celery. The seeds are used in desserts, breads, and beverages.
Magickal Uses: Grow fennel around your home for protection. Hangs sprigs at the doors and windows to keep out evil spirits. Use fennel in purification sachets and healing mixtures.
Medicinal Uses: Fennel increases milk flow in nursing mothers and relieves infant colic. It stimulates appetite and digestion, and soothes upset stomachs. It also calms bronchitis and coughs. Use externally to treat muscular and rheumatic pains; or use as a compress to treat conjunctivitis or inflammation of the eyelids.

Cultivation: Feverfew is a hardy perennial (to zone 5) which will grow in average, well-drained soil in sun or part shade, at a pH of 6.3.
Magickal Uses: Carry feverfew for protection against colds and fevers.
Medicinal Uses: Feverfew is an excellent remedy for migraines; British medical studies have in fact proven its efficacy! It can also help reliev the pain of rheumatism, painful periods, and sluggish menstrual flow.
Cautions: Do not use feverfew during pregnancy because of its stimulant action on the uterus.

Cultivation: Foxglove is a biennial, hardy to zone 4. It prefers fertile, moist, acidic humous, in sun to part shade.
Magickal Uses: Grow foxglove in the garden to protect the home.
Medicinal Uses: Foxglove is used to treat congestive heart failure, as it increases the force of heart contractions. It lowers the blood pressure while improving circulation, alleviating water retention, and relieving edema. Many mainstream hearrt medications are based on foxglove.

Cautions: Do NOT attempt to treat yourself with foxglove! This should be used ONLY under DIRECT medical supervision!!!
