The following info about Charles Fast Horse and Hazel Fast Horse items was taken from westerngold.com:
Charles Fast Horse is an Oglala Sioux who was born on the Pine Ridge reservation in
South Dakota in 1941. For Charles, art is a way of life. A self-taught artist, he is also
a historian and Medicine Man. His work is a testimony to the Native American traditions.
Each creation is part of a story recalling events or legends and expresses the beauty of
Lakota life. Charles' grandfather, Tim Spotted Bear, was a direct descendant of Thick
Bread, who fought in the Battle of Little Big Horn when he was only 18 years old.
Hazel Fast Horse was born in Redding California in 1936 and is a member of the Wintun
Tribe of Northern California. Many of her ideas are derived from her dreams and from
listening to the elders speak of the old days. Look at her spectacular, detailed bead work
painstakingly applied to each item she and Charles create. Truly magnificent works of art.
