It's Grrreat!!!
Progress report for week of 9/16/02

Monday-
Well, the first progress has been made. We laid everything out and decided on a wheelbase of 8". That will make everything really, really, really tight, but as long as we wire it all before we put it together, we should be good. Battery changing could be a chore at best though. Anyhow, we also marked up the lexan to get started working with that, and Mike said he was gonna start on it today probobly. And, hooray! The aluminum came in today. All 8' 11", about 1/10th of which will actually be going on the bot, so Yay!!! See the pretty 6061 T6? So light, yet so strong. Gotta love it.
Please excuse my knee

Wednesday- Alright! Good progress! Mike has supposedly been turning hell working on the parts. I took the aluminum over to him, so he's got it when he's ready to start. Also, we got the other stuff in! The wheels and the armortuf both came today. 4, 4"x.875" colsons from BotParts, so that's all good. And, of course, 5, 10"x8" Armortuf pannels, which we are sponsorship testing for Kemlite plastics. These things are thin and light. I love what I've seen of them so far. I'm a bit concered about piercing or cutting from a saw, but not too much. And I have absolutely zero concern about impact strength. I have added here a video of me working over my test pannel, so be sure to check it out.

Armortuf Sheets (This is an FRP)Really Thin!

Colson Wheels, the best

And of course, Check out this great video of me attacking my test sheet. And remember, all the hits are the same strength, so the last one just demonstrates just how hard I was hitting it. It was an accident, but it works well for the video to give you a feel of force.
