My Rex Nebular story Part 3.

5-29-99

My Rex Nebular collection is complete.  Up until yesterday, I posessed an original of Rex Nebular (PC), an original Logbook and Manual, and a copy of the Hintbook.  I had done my best gather pictures, sounds, and other information from the internet and the game for this web page.  I was done after I had added the character archive.  But that was yesterday.  Today I recieved a shipment that completed my collection.  It was "The Best of Microprose" software bundle, containing Railroad Tycoon, Command HQ, Pirates!, and of couse, Rex Nebular and the Cosmic Gender Bender.  The CD contains the PC and Mac versions of the game.  The real treat, however, is that the bundle also came with the Rex Nebular Hint book - an original copy, and the Rex Nebular Bonus Disk.  (Note:  "The Best of Microprose" does not come with the Rex Nebular Hint book, read on to find out more.)

I found this product on Ebay (www.ebay.com) and was outbid a few times before finally winning the item at, what I felt, was a very low selling price.  The reason I spent more than a few dollars at all was that it contained the hint book.  However, the bonus disk was a very pleasant surprise.  Actually, it turned out to be the highlight of my purchase.  It lets me listen to the midis from the game, view the "Evolution of Rex", view some scenes from the game, read some bonus notes (which I already had), and view selected death scenes.  I shall put the disk up on my files page soon.  I will also caputre some images from the scenes and put those up as well.  The writers of the bonus disk put some hilarious comments on some of the scenes.  The evolution of Rex (which has nothing to do with the game) is also pretty funny.

I contacted Microprose earlier this year and asked them about copies of Rex Nebular they may have had.  They had no copies of the game for sale.  They only had the manual, hintbook, and logbook.

That's it for now.  Happy Gaming.
