Stanley, N.Y. - Richard H. "Dick" Frarey, 81, died Monday (Sept. 10, 2012).

Friends may call Thursday (Sept. 13th) from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Kenneth J. Perkins Funeral Home in Gorham. A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Little Church Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ontario-Yates Hospice, 756 Pre-Emption Rd., Geneva, NY 14456; or to Clifton Springs Hospital, 2 Coulter Rd., Clifton Springs, NY 14432.

Dick was the son of the late Harry and Elsie Stearman Frarey. He graduated from Gorham Central School in 1949. Dick served in the U.S. Air Force for four years during the Korean War.

Dick worked for Town of Hopewell Highway Department and

then for Keeney Construction in Canandaigua. He was the Highway Superintendent for the Town of Seneca for 15 years, retiring in 1987. Dick was also a Town of Seneca Councilman for 12 years. After retirement, Dick worked for 15 years at the Big Lots store in Canandaigua, and at the Clifton Springs Hospital.

Dick was a member of the Seneca Castle United Methodist Church. He loved his family and friends, and adored his grandchildren. Dick also loved outdoor activities and being with people. He loved life.

Dick is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Perthel Frarey; two sons, Thomas (Kim) Frarey and John Frarey; two grandchildren, Samuel and Hannah Frarey; sister, Beverly Schaff; sister-in-law, Shirley (Rick) Larsen; and brother-in-law, Jerry (Kathy) Perthel; and several nieces and nephews.

Dick served with the 9th A.V.R.S.

I always thought of Dick as the gentle giant! Never boisterous. A listener and always agreed to go along with whatever the members decided to do. He was the same way overseas. We will miss him. Joe Menno
