Here's a close one.  On one hand you have the original roadster the Porsche 911 Cabriolet and on the other the stylish new BMW roadster.  At first glance many would say choose the Porsche, being that Porsche sort of defines sporting car in most peoples minds, however, BMW did an excellent job creating this car.  Both are full of that superb German engineering, power, excellent handling, and all around great looks, where do you begin?  The drive of course.  Both have great acceleration, the Porsche does get an extra point for the extra gear- six gears definitely out perform five.  The BMW time comes out a little quicker zero to sixty however it is barely noticeable.  Either of these awesome machines will give you the thrill you are looking for coming out of the apex of every turn.  Those mountain switch backs are exhilarating- even better than a day riding the roller coasters at Six Flags.  The power to stop the ride is just as great as the power to make it go.  No lack of breaking ability here.  For the price though, I'd say the BMW would give you all you need for $32,000 less.  If you want a little more cargo room for all that road trip fun, get the 911.  The trunk is a little larger.  I personally find it to be a hard decision, if I could, I'd take them both.
