Sponsoring a nun | For just $30 US a month ($360 per year), your contribution will completely take care of a nun. Thirty dollars will feed, clothe, and house her for one month. If your budget doesn't allow for this, you can also undertake partial sponsorship of a nun for $10 US a month ($120 per year). While the sponsored nun will get a small amount of your contribution as pocket money, the rest will go to the Food Fund. When you sponsor a nun, you are making a personal commitment to continue the sponsorship for one year or more. We would encourage you to correspond with your nun on a regular basis! Sponsoring a nun in this way is also an acknowledgement of the courage that many of these women showed in their decision to leave Tibet, where they were not able to pursue their spiritual beliefs and practice. You will receive a photograph of your nun, a receipt, and a letter of thanks from the nunnery. You will also receive a letter from the nunnery twice a year, to keep you informed of events there. If you'd like to sponsor a nun, please contact Judith Hunt. She is the sponsorship coordinator for North America:
Please make checks should be made payable to "FPMT Inc." Donations are tax-deductible, and donors will receive an official receipt from the FPMT. |
Making a donation to the nunnery | If you would like to help, but would rather not take on the commitment of an annual sponsorship, perhaps you might like to make a contribution to the Food Fund. In this way, you help ensure that the nunnery will continue to be able to look after its community - not just now, but in the future as well. Please send your donation to:
Checks should be made payable to "FPMT Inc." Please be sure to indicate on the check that the funds are intended for Khachoe Ghakyil Nunnery. Again, donations are tax-deductible, and American donors will receive an official receipt. |
Important - please read! | Note to Canadian donors: Please make your donations in U.S. funds in the form of an international postal money order or an international bank draft in American dollars. Lastly, please do not send donations directly to Nepal. This system - sending money via the FPMT International Office in California - is the safest and most efficient way to make donations to the nunnery. It also saves the nunnery the expense and hassle of converting foreign currency. Thank you so much! |
