Blackness
7-18-94

Walking through Blackness,
Y
ou suddenly see a light.
You grope for it, but it never reaches you.
You see it; you think you feel it,
But it fades away before you.

The light is joy, and you are sadness.
Such a contrast, so great the pull.
Dark takes in light, but light only smothers it,
Then turns disgustedly away.

He was the light that took me over,
Then went blithely on his way.
I want to be someone's light --
To live in his special world with him --
My only light of joy.
