Purple Frogs
7-5-95

I was walking through a dense jungle with a backpack on, pushing vines and branches out of my way, heading toward a distant light, where voices were coming from. When I finally got close enough to see what it was, I was shocked beyond belief.

There were about forty purple and mauve frogs sitting on logs around a camp fire, singing, roasting marshmallows, and some were frolicking around. One of them must have seen me, because he came toward me with his ball-toed, front foot held out. I went with him then and joined in on the fun.

All of a sudden, there was a rumble behind us from the jungle and all the purple frogs jumped up, put out the fire and started running into the thick part of the jungle. A few grabbed me by the arms and drew me with them. The rumble was getting closer and closer, so the purple frogs stopped, turned around, ready to face the rumble.

There, hurriedly coming toward us were droves and droves of brown frogs with weapons. The purple frogs then drew their weapons out of their bags and faced the brown frogs head-on. I was watching this in somewhat of amusement. I sat down on a log to watch this in more comfort.

During the battle, however, it started raining chocolate pieces, so the frogs stopped fighting and ran about catching the chocolate. Soon, they were all friends and we all walked together singing camp songs (one of which was The Little Green Frog song). Then, we came to a wide river, so we all got into little boats made of huge leaves and small branches, and crossed the river as dear friends, still eating our chocolate.
