| Mom, Tam, and I wee living in a different house, or staying there, I'm not sure which. Tam and I were to sleep in the living room of an older house. It had wooden floors and dark curtains. The living room was long and fairly narrow. There was a kitchen through a doorway and from there to the back of the house, where the other rooms were.
We were actually staying with an older male relative of Mom's -- actually he was about the same age as Mom, maybe slightly older, but I don't know who it was. His place was surrounded by woods. It seemed a little eerie at first, too. Although it was really late, this man came in and told Tam and I to get our rainboots on, since it was pouring outside. He said that we had to help him get the cows to shelter because he had heard wolves.
I couldn't find my boots, and I really didn't want to go outside. I knew Tam was scared to go, so I thought I would go instead of her. She stayed behind and went to stay with Mom. Mom was in bed asleep in one of the back rooms. The man went out and said that I could catch up with him when I found my boots. I kept looking and finally found them.
Then, I couldn't find a flashlight that worked. I was somewhat relieved that I couldn't find it, but I was worried about him out there alone. I kept hearing the wolves howl outside and thought about the cows. I went outside into the dark and storm without a flashlight. I couldn't see a thing. I don't know what happened then. I just tried to find my way in the darkness.
