In 1995 Matt (as she was then known) was the Teacher-in-Charge of music at Swanbourne Senior High School. Her classroom teaching duties included electric keyboard, musicianship (sight-singing, aural perception, dictation), concert practise, theory, literature of music (musical styles, history, instruments), and creative activities. She also co-ordinated peripatetic teachers and organised student concerts. Special classes were run for ballet students and academically gifted students. Her 'first year out' report card, prepared by a deputy principal, gave her a very high score across all areas.

Margaret has since returned to private teaching (piano, theory, singing) and also works as a piano accompanist and ballet pianist.
