What is the OFFL?
Want to see who was picked, and where, for the 2008 OFFL Draft?
The OFFL (Official Fantasy Football League) is fantasy football
to the extreme. It take the best of the NFL players statistics on both offense AND
defense and turns your average fantasy football player into a knowledgeable, over-the-top
stats freak.
OFFL has been around since 1991 and since 1997, has 14 teams
which play in 3 divisions. Each team carries a 43 man roster and plays 14 games, and with
scoring both offensive and IDP (individual defensive players), make the fantasy games more exciting than your
average league.
Each team keeps a 25 man roster during the off-season, which makes
the league's 18 round draft exciting. Who is usually the first draft pick? About 90% of
the time it's either a rookie QB or Running Back. For the 2008 draft, the first draft
pick was Darren McFadden RB, Oakland, who went to Athens Destroyers.
The first veteran picked in the draft was Derek Anderson, who went at the third
pick to the Gridiron Intimidators. We also had a record eight running backs taken in the First Round of this years draft.
The 18th annual draft of the OFFL says goodbye to Dan
Thompson and the Steely Dan and welcomes in owner, Christine Hile, former
co-owner or Cullman Co Bootleggers, who will lead the Cork County Crows into the fray.
We had all owners attend the festivities for the first time in a couple of years
and
we had another fantastic draft this year, as all members stayed for the most
part, sober. The Borruss S. Wart trophy and the champions plaque were presented
to the 2007 and 6 time champion , Nelson Thompson and the Imperial Army.
So, who will be
the king of the league in 2008? Will the always challenging Imperial Army repeat
for the seventh time? Or could Adrian Peterson propel Cosi Kamikazes into the winner's circle?
How about the darkhorse Athens Destroyers and Darren McFadden? However it goes, the OFFL
will continue to be the leader in IDP leagues around the nation after 18 years,
and it will be just as great as the past 17 years. It is special to all of us
involved, and with it, lots of excitement and anticipation of the only true fantasy
football league for the new millennium! So, it's time to ROCK and ROLL and LET'S GET
READY TO RUMBLE!!!
