I was trying to remember who did "Left in the Dark", a song that motivated me to smell the coffee and finaly leave my girlfriend a year after she had cheated on me. Jim Stienman performed it on "Bad for Good" My brother just took back his wife after a brief separation which I suspect she was cheating. The lines after the song fades goes "Where did he touch and how did it feel, if you need him again will he still be on call? What did he look like, did he remind you of me or was he just a kid after all, and who made the very first move,who made the very first move? I lost that album back around 1983 but those words haunted me. It was very eary the way it fades back up at the end of the song.At the time I felt as if it was a personal message to wake up and leave. I'm gonna try and get a copy for my brother. Anyway thanks for the site and check out Stienman if you haven't already and Get The movie "Dead Ringer" with Cher and Meat. Steinman is the real Meat Loaf to me but Meat is cool. |

All of my musical training has been in the classical genre, but there is just something so special about Meat Loaf that I could easily listen to him all day and night, and sometimes do. My two top favorites are "Rock and Roll Dreams Come Through" and "I'd Do Anything For Love". After that, it's hard to pick because they are all so good, though for different reasons. I especially appreciate the hope in the lyrics of "Rock and Roll Dreams Come Through". I find it a remarkable thing that he'd be singing his heart out in a way that could easily save a life using an art form that is noted for it's often depressing lyrics. At a time when teen suicide is at an all time high, I wish more artists would follow Meat Loaf's example and give these desperate kids a reason to hang on through one more night. You know? Thanks for doing this page. |
