This chart is available for you to identify what zone you are located in. When purchasing new plant material, most nurseries will give you the hardiness zone for that plant. If the number is higher on the plant than you location, you plant will more than likely die during the winter. This can also go the other way as well. Putting in a plant that is hardy in Zones 4-6 will not do well in Zones 8-10, due to the higher amounts of heat. Always do the research before purchasing new plants - - "Research twice, plant once".
