January Campout

On January 27th, Troop 112 went on a cold weather camping adventure in Chantilly.  The campsite offered lots of opportunities to explore the rugged outdoors yet had the conveniences of running water and indoor plumbing.

After setting up camp in the morning, we had a wood collecting competition, followed by a wood chopping contest.

In the afternoon, some scouts made a small campfire in the camp area for the adults while others prepared a bonfire for the evening.

Later on in the afternoon, we went to the Musée Vivant du Cheval and saw a show about how to train horses.  We also had the chance to look at the chateau of Chantilly.

As it started to get dark, we lit the bonfire and heated water for our delicious dehydrated dinner.  Shortly afterwards, it began to rain so we took advantage of the recreation room that was available at the campsite to build a fire in the fireplace and warm up before venturing into the dark and cold for the night.

We survived the cold night, warmed up on hot chocolate and oatmeal, broke camp, and then headed back to Paris.
