"D. L."

Douglas Simmons 23,
The accomplish vocalist started out mimicking other artist he heard on the radio or played in his tape deck. The development of his natural skills has paid off, because you can’t tell the difference if you are listening to him, R. Kelly, Maxwell or Prince. Although he has never had vocal lessons he has managed to blend these sounds together to create his own unique identity. “One day I just decided I wanted to sing.” He comments.
His influences include Quincy Jones, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Sting, The Bee Gee’s, Phil Collins, Prince, R. Kelly and of course Lil’ Bud & Tizone. He dreams of working with them all some day. Two of these goals have already been achieved. He got the chance to sit in on sessions with Tizone and R. Kelly. Who’s techniques he’s spent countless sessions studying.

Now he is focused on songwriting and writes all his own songs.
“I write all my versus, I catch vibes off the top of my head,” he adds.
His ballads are a mixture of what his friends have been through and his own personal relationships.

“I want to do whatever it takes to become a success.
I never wanna go back to the way I used to be.”
