"F. Dilla"

Frederick Maurice Thomas, 23
This talented Chicago native started out rapping and break dancing at the age of 9, in the Ida B. Wells housing projects. Rapping was a way to express his self and breaking was a way to eat and a way to survive. “I made $700 to $800 a show, that paid my bills,” he adds. His break dancing career took him all the way to the Oprah Winfrey and Phil Donahue shows and at other venues in the area, booked by his then manager, Oscar Brown JR..
     F. Dilla was inspired to develop his rap career by cousins, Lil’ Bud & Tizone who always stayed in the rap game while he was break dancing. He never had people around him who really cared about it much until then. He soon started writing about being locked up, survival, life on the streets and his everyday life experiences. Things he had been around all his life. Soon he discovered a talent he never pursued.
His Influence include LL Cool J, Slick Rick, EPMD, the late Tupac and Biggie Smalls.
“Tupac, I wish I could be on that level, I loved that nigga.”
“He may not be one of the industries well known rappers, but is expected to become one of the coldest.”
