Broom

Also called a besom,  it usually has natural bristles and a natural wood handle.
It is used in banishings, and to sweep away stagnant and
negative energies.  During handfastings, the bride and groom may jump over
the broom with their hands still bound, to symbolize their new life together.
There also was a tradition of "riding" the brooms around a field of crops
during the first full moon of the spring to ensure the fertility of the crop, and help
for an abundant harvest.  It respresents the element of water.
